| Early one morning I met a few dedicated Corvette fans traveling to Effingham, IL, for the Mid America Vette Fest. For the next ten hours I would take in the spirit of the Corvette world. Meeting Wil Cooksey and Tom Wallace became a moment in time when photos in magazines became bona fide people. They shared stories of the history of the Corvette and their contributions. The show itself included Corvettes from the 50’s to the newest of Corvettes for 2008. I was taken by the “Calendar Car” exhibit where the most eye-catching and unique Corvettes of the show were displayed. Memories linger of the vast playground of thousands of Corvettes lined up perfectly like toy cars in rows, and the overwhelming friendliness of the people with one common cause - their passion for the Corvette. |
